Brightin Star AF 50mm f/1.4 Review

We’ve had a look at a few Brightin Star lenses in the past, and they’ve all been solid and very interesting in their approach, and the new 50 1.4 is no different. Well, there is One major difference: autofocus! But how well do they do with their first attempt at an autofocus lens? Let’s find out!

First we’ll hit beautiful Quebec City with our model Aurore. This shoot gets a little moody as we ran into some unexpected rain, but the results were spectacular!

And then a little more sunshine and light for the second half of the shoot.

Our next session is with Kelly, doing some ballet poses in the studio. If some of these look a little hazy, that’s not because of the lens, but because of the literal haze we were using for effect.

Then a little more casual and everyday, from kids to socks.

Time for our usual cats eye bokeh test, starting wide open, then stopping down, then just having a little fun.

What do you think about the new Brightin Star AF50 1.4? To me it’s a phenomenal performer if you have an APS-C body. If you want to pick one up, feel free to use one of these links to help support this channel, and feed my fat cats:

Thanks for stopping by. Now go take some photos!
