Mikaela & Brad's Wedding
The forecast for this day was not looking great. Near hurricane winds and a ton of rain literally waiting on the horizon, everyone was holding out hope that it wouldn’t hit us. Did it? Well, you’ll just have to stick around to find out!
First we began inside at the family home, overlooking the sea. The plan was to get married outside overlooking the water, and as everyone got ready the resolve to do it rain or shine began to grow.
As everyone prepared, the power flickered and we just kept on going.
Not far from where the bride’s crew were getting ready, the groom and groomsmen were also prepping at their cottage, (and constantly keeping an eye on the gathering storm clouds). Soon groomsmen were running back and forth to dry off the chairs due to the sudden spurts of rain we began to get.
But we moved forward! On slightly damp chairs on the beautiful maritime coast, we all gathered for the ceremony. The storm held as the backdrop for it all, waiting over the ocean, clouds rolling and rain falling in the all too close distance.
As soon as we finished it rained again and everyone ran inside. They decided to cut the cake at this time, since there was not much else to do. And then as soon as it let up, we headed back out to take some formal photos, and what a dramatic effect the weather had!
Soon enough it was raining again, and we headed for our respective vehicles to get to the reception… which thankfully had a roof - at the Wingate in Dieppe.
Everyone, more than happy to be out of the wind and rain, had a great time continuing their celebrations there. I’m always thankful when the weather works out just right, and it definitely made this wedding day one for the books! Congratulations, Mikaela & Brad!
