Valerie & Ken’s Wedding

On a cool, rainy day in June, I finally had my first visit to Whispering Willow in Scoudouc, NB. The day begins in he house near the barn (as do nearly all such weddings at Whispering Willow), where there is a large bridal suite upstairs, and another pool-hall like suite downstairs for the grooms group to get ready in.

After some relaxed prep, Val & Ken had their first look in the living room downstairs, then headed out into the on again, off again rain for some photos. They brought an umbrella, with the intent to toss it aside for all photos, and while sure, I did take a lot of photos with the umbrella hidden, personally I’m big on context, and remembering the day for exactly how it was - albeit in the best photographic framing possible ;)

After the couple photos were done, we called on the whole wedding party to get a little damp for their photos as well. Then back inside to freshen up for the ceremony. In front of the pond and fountain, before a tight group of family and friends, Val & Ken tied the knot. We then went inside for a champaign toast.

Then next door to the ‘barn’ for the reception. I put it in quotations because I doubt that this barn ever had any manure scooped out of it, or oil changes sloshed onto the clean concrete floor. It was decorated to the nines just for their wedding style.

After a whole lot of dancing and celebrating and partying, it was time to cut the cake. Unfortunately they were apparently a little overzealous, and the knife didn’t survive the ordeal. But if you can’t take the heat, then stay outta the bakery.

Though the day was damp, nothing rained on our spirits. Congratulations, Val & Ken!

Thanks for making it to the end! As a little bonus, I shot some 35mm Fujicolor 200 film that day as well. Enjoy!
