Courteney & Travis' Engagement
It was October 21st, and (some of) the leaves were still on the trees. That means it's time for another engagement shoot!
I met up with Courteney and Travis at Centennial Park, since it was one of the only places left in the city that still had some leaves which had yet to succumb to wind and gravity. They brought their dog out for some photos to start out with. Before I continue, there's something we have to talk about: some people, when they first contact me, say that they're too goofy/awkward/camera-shy to make a good photo. I always brush it off, because it always works out just great, and everyone wonders why they were so worried in the first place when they get their pictures back.
Now, back to where we were: this dog. I might know how to take pictures of goofy people, but this goofy dog? I dunno. I might need to go back to school or something. Every picture I took of him he just looked either terrified or indignant. I will admit, my dog skills are not on point. But we must also concede that there's a decent chance that he saw a ghost and doesn't yet realize that it was just the creepy butler in a costume all along.*
Okay, where were we? Right, engagement shoot, in the park, beautiful light streaming through the trees...
It was another one of those days where I just set up the lighting and camera, aimed at the most picturesque part of the forest, and told them to "go stand over there and just do your thing", and they were naturally charming/adorable (you may choose your own adjective).
It's nice to not always have to roll up my pants and wade into freezing water to get the shot. While I'm perfectly willing to do so, a warm and bright fall day in October, a happy couple, and a beautiful engagement ring never sounds like a bad way to spend an evening to me.
